Stillwater Area Scholastic Cycling Advocates (SASCA)
The team and program are managed by the Stillwater Area Scholastic Cycling Advocates, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. With student and parent feedback, we are responsible for defining the structure of the team. SASCA and its board appoints the Team Director, who is responsible for defining our current procedures and policies.
Stillwater District 834
The Stillwater MTB program is classified as an “Independent Provider” by Stillwater School District 834 and does not fall under the governance of the Minnesota State High School League. However, the Team tries, when possible, to follow the same guidelines and recommendation as the MSHSL for student behavior, minimum grades, and discipline policies.
The National Interscholastic Cycling Association is our sports national governing body. Founded in 2009, NICA develops interscholastic mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the United States. NICA provides leadership, services and governance for local leagues to produce quality mountain bike events, and supports every student-athlete in the “development of strong body, strong mind and strong character.”
Minnesota High School Cycling League
Minnesota’s state league for NICA is the Minnesota High School Cycling League. The Minnesota High School Cycling League, founded in 2012, is a statewide independent activity provider for student-athletes in 6th - 12th grade. They oversee the development, training and education of teams and coaches in our state. They also plan and coordinate races each season.
