Stillwater MTB Families - Donate or Volunteer
The annual event invites residents to bring any old and/or unused bicycles (bikes don't have to be in good shape - parts can be salvaged), helping extend the life of these bikes while supporting local youth and families in need. Last year’s event was a strong success, with more than 150 bikes collected and redistributed throughout the region. Organizers are hoping to meet or exceed that number again this year.
Once donated, the bikes are split between two impactful Minnesota-based programs: Express Bikes and Bikes4Kids.
Express Bikes operates as both a bike shop and a nonprofit youth employment program, where teens learn to refurbish bicycles while gaining valuable job and life skills. For many participants, it’s their first work experience and an important step toward future success.
The remaining bikes go to Bikes4Kids, where they are refurbished and distributed, along with helmets and locks to children and families across Minnesota. Working through social service organizations, Bikes4Kids ensures these bikes reach individuals who might not otherwise be able to afford one.
In addition to supporting these programs, donating a bike helps promote healthier lifestyles. Riding bikes encourages physical activity, supports mental well-being, and gives kids a fun, active way to spend time outdoors. It also offers a simple, sustainable transportation option that benefits the broader community.
Organizers encourage residents to look around their garages and storage spaces. A bike that’s no longer being used could make a lasting difference in someone else’s life.
Stillwater MTB is lending their trailer to support transport of donated bike!
Those interested in getting more involved are also invited to help make the event a success. Volunteers are needed to assist with bike collection throughout the day. If you’re interested in lending a hand, consider signing up for a shift! THANK YOU!
